Today I bring some very sad news that actor James Whitmore died of lung cancer at the age of 87. Now I only know him from one role but he played many different characters over his life and was an Emmy and Tony award winner. Now while I don't know those roles there is one role he played that touched my heart. My favorite movie is The Shawshank Redemption (please go see it if you haven't) ~SPOILER ALERTS AHEAD~ and in it he played an convict by the name of Brooks Hatlen who to make a long story short had been in jail for the greater part of his life. His portrayal of the character was amazing and he gave possibly the greatest monologue in that movie or in any movie I have seen. If you haven't seen the movie yet I would suggest you don't watch this clip as it gives away a lot but if you have seen it, watch it again to see what a great actor the world lost today.Rest in peace James, we will miss you.

Yes, that was indeed a great movie and I just wanted to let you know you made me cry watching that scene. Whitmore was great and he will be missed. He was 87 and his son said he had a good life!
